Challenge #117 ~ Journalling

Hi there, I just realised it was Friday and thought I had better pop over to the Sketches! blog and see if Tamara had put up the new challenge so I could post mine here. Well she has so now I can :)
This week is a Journaling Challenge. It comes from Joan, one of the Design Team Members. Your challenge is to make a layout about the 5 Material Things you can not live without. For example, it could be Coffee, Laptop, Hairspray, low-riding jeans, Mascara, ect.
Here is my take on the challenge...
Not my favourite LO of all time, but since we weren't supposed to include family health etc I found it hard to think of 5... with photos to match and I ended up with more lol but really if I had to go without, I'm sure I'd be ok... but living out of town I really would be stranded without my car! How would I shop for scrapping supplies... not to mention groceries hehe... I wouldn't even be able to make it to the post office to pick up parcels from online shopping!
Sadly this is my last post as a DT for the Sketches! {by tamara} blog, it has been fun and motivating and I will be sure keep on following the sketches she posts!
Well thanks for stoppin by, I'm heading back to the housework now, Aimee invited a friend to come over after school and I do enjoy a cuppa with her Mum so I'd better tidy up a bit!
Enjoy your day xx

one for mum

Well not my Mum, but someones Mum... hopefully :)
I took a few cards into Jewlz today, Julie had asked for some mothers day cards that don't actually say mothers day on them.
I'm combing the colour/embossing challenge at Embellish who are being sponsered by Practicing Creativity Designs, also the Mothers Day theme over at Paper Popsicles who have a digi image freebie PLUS an amazing monthly prize (see the pic in my sidebar...) and also entering Challenge #45 ~ Make your own flowers at Die Cut Dreams who have some yummy flowers up for grabs.
You may have seen me use these paper roses in an earlier post... but if not I found a fantastic tutorial by the fabulous Rae... Click on her name to check out her sensational cards!
This should have been a quick card, but I wanted to complete the colour challenge and it took me ages to get it to work. Love how it turned out and I can see myself using Rae's rose technique again and again... watch out!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you're all looking forward to a wonderful weekend, I'm catching up with my fabulous friend Kim on Saturday and we're going to get crafty :)
I can't wait!
Happy blogging xx

happiness always

Good morning!
I made this card last night while John was watching TV, found my inspiration over at Card Patterns Sketch #61. Love the simplicity of the sketch and the different interpretations from the DT. I kept my embellies fairly simple, pulled the sewing machine out, still had some bashful blue cardstock on my desk from the card I made before this one, and I like the contrast between the deep red and the pale blue.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope to be back with some more later, but we'll wait and see...
I've got Aimee home today with the dreaded head lice :( I check her every evening because there have been a few cases at her school this year, although I didn't find anything last night I found a couple of eggs this morning and she is most upset that she is missing a day...
Well I can hear Charlotte making mess better go see what they're up to!
Enjoy your day xx

feeling inspired!

*Edited 28.4.10*
Good afternoon!
Today I was inspired by Keesh's colour challenge #21, and I combined it with Kazan's fab sketch #51 over at 2Sketches4You, and I added some handmade roses that I saw on a card made by the talented Rae Barthel as she was guest designer at Card Patterns blog. If you have a look thru her blog she has some amazing cards, I love her style! And you will find a tut she made on creating these paper roses, it's easy and I love how they turned out!
So here is what I created:
Not sure on a sentiment yet...
**Well I did decide on a sentiment and here is a new photo. **
The papers are all stampin' up, I'm almost finished my pack of Bella rose designer paper. Sometimes it's hard to decide which side to use...

I'm also linking it up over at Paper Popsicles, they have a mothers day theme this week! And an awesome monthly prize too!! Check it out in my sidebar...

Well that's it for me today, nice and sort.

Hope you're all having a great start to the week!
Take care xx

The cutest sketch

Good afternoon
Just a quick one from me then I have to get back to folding my washing etc etc etc...
Aimee decided she would like to draw up her own sketch after seeing how often I use one when making cards. She has some prizes over at her own Challenge Blog if you want to play along!
Here is her sketch:
Here is what I came up with:
She said it's ok that I didn't use a bird...
I've used a digi image from Paper Popsicles instead :) The theme over there this week was ice-cream! They have a fab monthly prize... check it out in my sidebar! I might have some yummy vanilla light ice cream after tea. John is cooking chicken soup and it's smelling really good right now! and if you want to see Aimee's card based on her own sketch please pop over to her challenge blog!
That's it for me hope you're all enjoying the weekend! Take care xx

for a sweet friend

Good morning! I've whipped up a card this morning to show you all, I've used a freebie (until Friday) digi ice-cream that you can find at PaperPopsicles and I'm entering this card in the ice-cream theme this week! Did you see the amazing prize from paper popsicles that I've got linked in the sidebar? All you have to do is enter the weekly challenges at PaperPopsicles and your name goes in the draw for the monthly prize! Pop over and check it out!
I'm also entering my card at Card Patterns Sketch #60, I thought the ice cream would look great in the center of the circle on the sketch, and I know there's not supposed to be anything top right but I added the buttons to 'even it out' I suppose. Fab work from the Design Teams at both blogs so pop over and check them out!
All paper is from stampin' up, adornit lettering available from the stamp spot (link in my sidebar), buttons and ribbon from my stash, flowers are kaisercraft, also used my circle and scalloped nesties, and derwent pencils to colour.
And just a reminder entries for Aimees challenge ~ pink yellow and green ~ close on Saturday and we only have 4 entries so far, you would have a good chance at a prize if you enter, and we'd love to see those little crafters making something too! I'm going into Aimee's class first week of May to help make Mothers day cards... It's going to be busy and fun! They have the best imaginations :)
Well that's it for me today and most likely the whole weekend :( We have another busy one planned and there is always housework to catch up on too.
Take care and I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend! xx

(insert title here)

Good morning friends, I just wanted to pop up two cards to show you, that I made last night after I finished altering Aimee's winter tunic; it's a bit long so I moved the buttons on the shoulders and took the hem up, she needs a little more room around the middle than the smaller size, but if she is going to be tall like her Daddy I'm sure she will grow into it!
So my first card is based on Makeesha's terrific sketch, you can find it here!. I don't usually like to leave the holes in the buttons empty but I couldn't find an embroidery thread in the right colour in my stash, and the jute string was too much.
My next card was inspired by Marcia's logo for her new blog marcia jane designs, I really like these colours together and since I just found my quickcuts bird die I wanted to use it... it had slipped under the couch that divides my craft space from the toy room. I'll be so much more organised after we renovate!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I do hope your all looking forward to a wonderful weekend! We'll be taking Aimee to march in the ANZAC day parade on Sunday morning, then meeting up with some friends for lunch and finally stopping in to see John's Nan for the afternoon. Hopefully the weather is nice! Take care and Happy Blogging!! xx

Challenge #116 a {fantastic} card sketch!

Hello out there! Here is my DT card for the fab sketch over at Sketches! by tamara this week...
If you want to try the sketch out for yourself, please link it up at the Sketches! blog so we can come take a peek and leave you some love!! It is a great sketch to work with and I love to see all the DT ladies different takes and colour choices when using it.
Thanks for stopping by, and please leave a comment so I know you have been, and then I can come visit you too!

~follow your heart~

I love these sentiments in the whimsical wishes set from stampin' up! and I also love my new butterfly punch... and I love paper flowers... I combined them all for my take on Lauras fab sketch #50 over at 2S4Y and the wings and flowers challenge over at Creatalious challenges #9. Both sites also have current DT calls so pop over and find out the deets if you're interested!
The scalloped oval is denim from an old pair of John's jeans and I tried putting it thru my bigkick with a scalloped oval nestie... it sorta got jammed so I had to trim the rest, the pattern paper comes from the card kit I ordered from Mac Mae kits (link in my sidebar) the stampin' up whisper white cardstock panel is embossed with cuttlebug swiss dots folder and all on a stampin' up kraft base. The rhinestone brad, butterfly body and red paper are from my stash, fiskars border punch... oh and I pulled out my sewing machine (again). I really should do this more often! When I have my own craft room I'll have it set up ready to go all the time :)
Thanks for stopping by, and it would make my day to hear what you think of my card and the colours I used... Enjoy your week, happy blogging! xx

Super Sketchy Sunday:

I found me some mojo...

Good evening!
Well I must admit I do love the fab sketches over at Mojo Monday, and even more I love the amazing cards that the DT members come up with each and every week! Usually my take on the mojo sketches don't make it to my blog, they sits unfinished on my desk because I'm just not satisfied. Today I am satisfied... I could even say pleased with the card I made based on Mojo Monday Sketch 134. Also over at The Paper Popsicles Blog they want to see your stitching, So I pulled out my old machine (which I should do more often!)

All papers, seniment, butterfly stamp, old olive ink and punch are from stampin' up, also used was fiskars border punch, cuttlebug swiss dots folder, rhinestones and green thread from my stash.

And that's it for me today! It's been a big week with Aimee back at school after the holidays and my morning sickness has decided to return... but now it's only in the mornings which is (almost) a relief :)

Awww John is playing 'our song', so I best head off for a dance with my romantic (and slightly drunk) husband hehe I do love our Saturday nights in...
Take care and happy blogging xx

~ Beautiful Butterflies ~

Good morning!
Aimee and I had a play with my new butterfly punch and stamp set from stampin' up last night.
Aimee used pink green and yellow as her main colours, which is the theme over at her Challenge Blog which finishes this Saturday so pop over if you want to play along, or if you have a youngster in your life who likes to create with you!
Aimee is going to give her card to her teacher :)

I try to not be 'over-helpful' when we craft together, and just wait for her to ask me if she needs help. she did this whole card herself beside the butterflies bodies, i cut them out for her with my sharp pointy scissors.

My two cards use the butterfly stamps, and the sentiment 'happiness always' comes from the whimsical wishes set which was available in the Australian sale-a-bration catalog and I'm so glad I got them both! My fabulous friend Kim is a stampin' up demonstrator and I can't wait until her next workshop, they are so much fun!!!
I'm going to have to expand on my ink's I think, I only have brown, old olive, pixie pink, and pacific blue in my collection at the moment.
I'm entering this next card over at Practical Scrappers where the theme this week is glitter and bling! They are also part of a week-long blog hop with lots of great prizes to be won! Pop over to start the hop and enter this weeks challenge!
Well thanks for stopping by and happy blogging! xx

One for My Dad :)

Just a quick post before we head off into Sale for a BBQ for my Dads birthday. He is 51 this year :) here is the card I made him... with my new whimsical wishes set from Stampin' up!
yes... it has a flower hehe I couldn't help myself! It looked too bare without it, and since Pam set a challenge for Day 41 - DIY Glitter Blossoms I had this kaisercraft flower all done with some bronze kindyglitz and it was just waiting for a card to go on. I like brown and blue together, although that blue stampin' up striped paper does sorta remind me of flannelet pajamas... would love to hear what you think tho! Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. Bring on some rain :) Thanks for stopping by xx

2 for 365

Good morning!
I hope you all had a wonderful week! I did because I received my Stampin' up order last night with the butterfly punch... and the whimsical wishes stamp set and I'm itching to ink it up! But there is a tiny bit of housework standing in my way lol so maybe this evening I'll get something made :)
I do have two cards to show for some challenges over at 365 Cards, day 35 was super sketchy Sunday and here is my interpretation...
and there is a colour challenge for day 34 - white yellow orange green and red... it took me a while to get my head around this one, but I definitely love the outcome!
Well thanks for stopping by and I hope you're all looking forward to a wonderful weekend!
Take care xx

Sketches! Challenge #114

Good evening! Well the new challenge is up over at Sketches! by tamara.
If you can, please pop over and check out the amazing work from the other talented ladies on the DT... some fabulous eye candy I must say! And if you decide to use the sketch yourself don't forget to link it up on the Sketches! blog so we can all come have a look!
I'm not comfortable trimming my photos, and I haven't found a photo paper that I'm happy to use with my new printer to crop, and print that way, so instead I flipped the sketch on it's side and used 6x4's of Aimee and Ruby, who was John's parents cat but has now passed :(
This is my last month on the DT and I've had a fantastic time, it has really motivated me to pull out my photos and get them into my albums! Thanks Tamara!

Good Luck

Good afternoon... just! I've got a card to show you following sketch #161 from CPS. This week they are being sponsored by Hero Arts.
Here is the sketch:
Here is what I came up with:
and a close up of my eyelets and flower:
I've used Stampin' up Creamy caramel for the base, Some funky mushroom paper from my Cosmo cricket Earth Love mini deck, the flower is kaisercraft, button american crafts and lettering from adornit and the 2 silver eyelets, jute string and the yellowy paper from my stash.
Once we renovate I'm hoping to get (and stay) heaps more organised. My scraps box is getting too deep, I need more than one so I can sort the cut-offs into colours or something...
Anyway that's it for today, I've tried to talk Aimee into some card making but after yesterday all she wants to do is get outside and paint!

Easter Weekend

Hi all.
I just wanted to post some photos taken onver the long weekend.
We started with a bath to get all shiny and clean before our visitors arrived...
We had fantastic BBQ weather on Sunday and our family (who lives close enough) came out to eat with us which was lovely. Our girls got spoilt rotten, I may just have to help them eat some of thier chocolate! The first photo is (John's parents) Michael and Lorraine, John, Myself and the Girls.
It wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt! John made it easy for Charlotte... both the girls had a great time :)
Let me explain my little trend setters out fit here, Grandma and Pop always spoil our girls, along with chocolate Aimee also recieved a new doona cover, bed socks and sport socks. She wanted to put the sport socks on straight away and do sports! Her sports consisted of push ups, running and few games of totem tennis with anyone who would play. She is a funny little girl :)
This afternoon John pulled a canvas out of the shed and it had a bit of water damage at one end so I set up the easel for the girls and they painted something lovely to hang on the sunroom wall, they had a great time and Aimee didn't mind that Charlotte wanted to paint on her side too. Can you see Aimee's fireworks? I love her imagination!
I was going to take another photo of Aimee asleep under her new doona cover tonight but they are coming out too dark or too yukky with the flash lol so we'll take one tomorrow.
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with lots of yummy food and good company xx

***DT Call***

Marcia over at The Stamp Spot has a DT Call, if you would like to apply click This Link and find out the deets. Closes this Friday xx

~A colour challenge~

Wow I can't believe I haven't posted since Monday, but I suppose thats becasue I haven't really made anything... been feeeling a bit under the weather with a cold or the flu or something. I have been around checking out the challenges and some blogs of other tlented crafters.
Today I have a card for Aimee's Challenge and it's a colour challenge. Aimee choose Green Pink and Yellow... my green is a bit more teal but Aimee said she doesn't mind :) I also started out with Kazans sketch in mind, but it didn't turn out like what I had pictured in my head...
I hope you're all having a wonderful Easter weekend, John has done all the lawns nice and neat since we're having family over for a BBQ tomorrow.
Ok I'm off to help Aimee with some origami now... she found a book with instructions in the op shop for 20cents and has been asking me for about 10 minutes now... can't keep her waiting any longer!
Happy blogging xx
